So even though the season has yet to officially start, a lot of hard work behind the scenes is essential, including pre-season testing and long workshop hours, to ensure that the machinery are ready for the start of Daley’s road racing campaign at Scarborough’s Spring Cup on 16th/17th April.
Daley’s first port of call was to Jerez in Spain at the beginning of March with his Superbike, joining a private test. This was the first time that Daley had visited this specific venue but he soon got to grips with the track and it was certainly a worthwhile few days, where he came away with lots of valuable data and track time.
Having then returned back to the UK, the next stop after a few tweaks in the workshop, saw the team visiting a firm favourite – Darley Moor Race Circuit.
The team participated in Darley Moor’s 2 day event where Daley managed a personal best time around the circuit of 54.64 seconds (which was the fastest lap of the day and only 2 seconds off the current lap record) – owing to the temperature of the track and weather conditions, this was a great result. Daley pushed his Superbike to victory in 2 races, with 2 x 2nd places and another 1st place which was on a 125 bike that he rode on behalf of Brian Scott.
Again, a lot of vital and productive data was secured from this round to make some final alterations ready for the Spring Cup which will see Daley race against the likes of William Dunlop, Ivan Linton, Dean Harrison and Lee Johnstone to name but a few. Oliver’s Mount has played host to Daley from the age of 15 years and he considers this to be his local track. He secured his first major win at the track during the 2015 Spring Cup, crossing the finish line seconds ahead of the field in typical British wet weather on his Michelin wets. Hopefully, 2016 can see him replicate this result or even better
it, with a Spring Cup overall podium finish (as the race is ran over 2 legs).
Finally and most importantly, can we take this opportuntiy to thank everyone for their continued support, dedication and passion for the team and road racing. It isn’t possible without you.
Let’s go racing!Return to news
