EDDIE STOBART ANNOUNCES PARTNERSHIP WITH INTERNATIONAL SUPERBIKE RACER DALEY MATHISON
‘Fuelled by Eddie Stobart’ Mathison sponsorship confirmed for 2016 race season
Eddie Stobart, Warrington, UK 5 May 2016 – Eddie Stobart is proud to announce a new partnership with International Superbike Racer, Daley Mathison.
Mathison, 24, from Stockton-on-Tees, County Durham, has been selected by Eddie Stobart to represent the brand in International Superbike Racing in a partnership dubbed ‘Fuelled by Eddie Stobart’. Part of the support from the company will provide fuel for team Daley Mathison Racing throughout the 2016 season.
With a number of international successes under his belt, including the MotoE European Championship for electric motorcycles in 2015, Mathison’s 2016 campaign got off to a brilliant start with victory in the first race of the season – the Bob Smith Spring Cup at Oliver’s Mount in North Yorkshire. Next, the team heads to the Isle of Man for the TT Races at the end of May.
Alex Laffey, Eddie Stobart CEO, said: “Eddie Stobart has formed high profile partnerships in motorsport over the years, and we are very proudly involved in Formula 1 logistics. This partnership is different in that we have been really impressed by Daley’s determination and racing style, and want to support him in his endeavours at the grass roots of motorsport. He is up and coming and has a really tenacious approach to his racing and the business around racing. We are sure he will go a long way and that he will make an excellent ambassador for Eddie Stobart in the international superbike scene.”
Daley Mathison added: “I am absolutely delighted to be working with Eddie Stobart. It is a massive boost to the team, both in terms of the direct support from the company, and to me as a racing brand through the promotional expertise and power of the Eddie Stobart name. It came about following a hopeful email that my wife wrote to Alex Laffey, having discovered we were from the same part of the country. He liked what he read, checked me out with his colleagues, and here we are. Now I need to deliver on the track, and we are off to a really excellent start. I’m looking forward to my first race in partnership with Eddie Stobart at the TTs in the Isle of Man. What a place to start.”
To celebrate the new partnership, one of the famous Eddie Stobart trucks has been named Daisy Blu – the name of Daley and wife Natalie’s first child – due to be born this month.Return to news
